Unable to download multimedi message on android

Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) will not download MMS messages. I've had this phone for about a year, and I've never been able to get it fixed. messages app, clicked "more," then "settings," then "more settings," then "multimedia messages," then turned off auto retrieve. MMS available with no data plan on Android A10e?
